An organisation representing younger LGBTQ individuals in Athens has condemned an assault on its workplaces, blaming it on the youth wing of the neo-Nazi Golden Daybreak group.
In an announcement, Color Youth stated the assault came about on Sunday night time.
Pictures from the scene confirmed Golden Daybreak symbols and slogans spray painted on the doorway to Color Youth’s workplaces.
One slogan learn “Zackie -1,” which Color Youth stated was a “direct risk and reference” to the homicide of a reference to LGBTQ activist Zak Kostopoulos, who died after being crushed throughout an altercation in a jewellery store in 2018.
The group stated the far proper was trying to regroup round “anti-LGBTQI+ rhetoric” and accused ruling New Democracy of continuously participating in “far-right rhetoric” and major opposition SYRIZA of “contradictory reactions … on problems with defending human rights and resisting nationalism, homotransphobia and xenophobic rhetoric.”
